This is a photo of one of the Highland Scottish cows that we have grazing in the fields of my town.
We use them as ecological ‘lawnmowers’ and Scottish cows were specifically chosen to honour the fact that we are twinned with Haddington in Scotland.
Here we can see Hamish McLazybastard (not actual name) enjoying a relaxed Wednesday morning.
We used to have one of those “environmentally friendly” lawnmowers, of the equine persuasion. Rosie was great – she ate the grass but didn’t touch the tulips or the Hosta. However, cleaning up the “exhaust” was, well, exhausting, and when one of the girls tied Rosie where she could – and did! – clean out the garden, we decided to go back to the old gas-powered mower.

That is – thankfully – something that our local council takes care of – which is great as there are some biiiiig girls/boys in that field!
